Midwest League Affiliates

Cooperatively Staffed Teams

Before the league's reorganization under the Midwest League banner before the 1956 season, it was pretty common for a town to field a team without a formal big league affiliation. Since 1956, only the 1964 Quincy Gems have fielded a truly independent team. Six MWL teams, however, have had cooperative affiliations, and another has featured a substantial loan of players from a team other than its official affiliate.

The 1970 Danville Warriors had Cecil Cooper (.336, 3 HR) and were a decent team. So were the 1979 Wausau Timbers; Mike Jirschele, better remembered as an MWL manager, had his best playing year on this team (.241, 7 HR, 54 RBI). Jim Presley (.245, 12 HR, 52 RBI) played for the Timbers in 1980.
