Baseball in Burlington

Community Field

Community Field has hosted the Burlington franchise of the Midwest League since the team joined the MWL in 1962. Prior to that, it housed Burlington teams in the Central Association and the Three-I League. The facility was new in 1947, but was completely rebuilt after a fire on June 8, 1971 (reconstruction was completed during 1973). Center field was extended by moving the outfield fences after the 1997 season.

I'm looking for a suitable photograph of Community Field--preferably one which is not already available on another website. Drop me a line if you can help.

Source of Name: Descriptive; Burlington's a community-owned and oriented ballclub.

Park Effects

The STATS 1998 Minor League Handbook indicates that Community Field is fairly neutral, although it inflates the triple count enormously and helps pitchers' strikeout counts somewhat. (1 year's data.)
