Baseball in LafayetteColumbian Park Recreational Centernow Loeb StadiumColumbian Park hosted Lafayette's Midwest League teams from 1955 through 1957. It has remained in use, and serves as annual host to the Colt World Series. The ballpark has been known as Loeb Stadium since 1971. The Lafayette Parks website says the ballyard in Columbian Park was opened on September 9, 1940. I'm looking for a suitable photograph of Columbian Park/Loeb Stadium--preferably one which is not already available on another website. Drop me a line if you can help. Source of Name: Named for its location in Columbian Park. The Loeb family donated $50,000 to construct the grandstand in honor of Solomon Loeb. |
