Baseball in West Frankfort

Memorial Stadium

Memorial Stadium hosted the West Frankfort franchise of the Illinois State and Mississippi-Ohio Valley Leagues from 1948 through 1950. It's not clear whether they played here in 1947.

I'm looking for a suitable photograph of Memorial Stadium--preferably one which is not already available on another website. Drop me a line if you can help.

Source of Name: Not enough information. West Frankfort's a mining town and has many memorials to coal miners. This memorial may have been another of those, or may have been a war memorial.

The Midwest League plays Single-A, professional baseball in America's agricultural and industrial heartland. 14 teams play a 140 game schedule which begins in early April and ends Labor Day weekend.
