Midwest League Managers

Gary Jones

Three Midwest League seasons:

Playing Career

  • Drafted/Signed: Cubs, free agent, 1982 (University of Arkansas, infielder).
  • Professional Career: 7 years in the Cubs and Athletics organizations, including two seasons at Triple-A Tacoma.
  • Midwest League: Played for Quad Cities in 1983.

Management style

There's nothing particularly remarkable about Jones' management habits, except perhaps a tendency to call for sacrifice bunts. His teams used to be pretty aggressive on the basepaths--as was Jones, when he played--but that is no longer the case. Generally speaking, this man's teams win.
