Management style

Joyce is an exceptionally conservative manager; his teams rarely bunt, don't steal very often, and he's not inclined to call for intentional walks. For a manager whose teams aren't very aggressive on the basepaths, the success rate is notably low.

Joyce was an assistant coach at Southern Maine after his college playing career, then went into teaching because he needed a paying job. If I can locate the details, I'll list them here.
