Joel's Been Busy

<![CDATABusy Busy.... I mostly work on this website during my breaks and lunch hours. We are currently trying to finish up the biggest major project of my career, an effort which has cost me those breaks and has shortened my lunch hour. At this point, it looks like this situation will continue into May. I'll try to get the essential 2010 information on the site in early March, but I expect I'll not get fully caught up until late summer. My apologies.

Low-A Realignment Update: As the 2008 season ended, Minor League Baseball announced that the Lakewood (Eastlake, Ohio) and Bowling Green, Kentucky (former Columbus, Georgia) teams will be moving from the South Atlantic League to the Midwest League for the 2010 season. This switch will certainly reduce the transportation costs for the SAL; it has schedule implications for the MWL which reportedly haven't been fully considered. It seems very likely that the league will cut down on inter-divisional play as a result of this change. Should be interesting.

Low-A Realignment: Minor League Baseball is attempting to realign the SAL and MWL; the effect would be to add two South Atlantic League franchises to the Midwest League. The details are not new; the teams are the Lake County team (suburban Cleveland) and the Columbus, Georgia team (which is moving to Bowling Green, Kentucky). MiLB president Pat O'Conner hopes to have the change in place for next season, but considers 2010 more realistic. We'll keep our eye on this; similar efforts have already fallen through a couple times, but this time there are bigger hitters involved.
