  • Combined score was at least 20 runs.
  • Game lasted at least 12 innings.
  • Short game: 9 innings under 2 hours.
  • Long game: any game over 3 hours, 30 minutes in length.
  • Either a team or a player had a really exceptional game performance.
  • Game attendance topped 10,000.
  • A team or player was leading the minor leagues in some category or other.
  • Ends of long hitting (and similar) streaks are noted.

Sources include Howe SportsData's daily league writeups, daily box scores, notes in Total Baseball's daily email newsletter, and other electronic media; paper sources included the Lansing State Journal, Baseball America, and Baseball Weekly. Since I did not see every day's reports, some worthy events were certainly missed.




The Midwest League plays Single-A, professional baseball in America's agricultural and industrial heartland. 16 teams play a 140 game schedule which begins in early April and ends Labor Day weekend.
