Pre-Season Profile

Manager

This is Tyrone Boykin's first season as a minor league manager.

This is Mitch Seoane's tenth season as a manager; half of those have been in our league. Like all Angels managers, he's far more willing to let starting pitchers finish games than most MWL skippers. The rest of his play-calling is fairly conventional.

Where they played last season

This is a brief portrait of how the team was put together. These summaries are based on the team's opening day roster and will not be revised to reflect roster changes.

Most of this year's Kernels played in Boise last season, where the team had a decent season. Most of the rest played at Butte.

Team League W/L Place Hitters Pitchers
                                    (Teams)
Lake Elsinore California (A+) 63/77 8(10) 0 0
Cedar Rapids Midwest (A) 61/77 12(14) 1 0
Boise Northwest (A-) 43/33 2(8) 7 7
Butte Pioneer (R) 32/43 6(8) 6 2

There was very little movement in the Angels system last season; none of these players appeared for more than one team. One of the Kernels played in an independent league last summer; another did not play professionally. Only one of these players appeared above Rookie ball in 1999.
